AimPoint Golf
WHAT IS AIMPOINT
AimPoint is a Putt Predictive Technology and green reading instruction method developed by Mark Sweeney from Orlando, Florida. You may know the Putt Predictive Technology as that “blue line” on the Golf Channel’s broadcasts of the PGA and LPGA Tour events. This technology has been regularly used on the Golf Channel since 2007. It won the George Wensel award for technical achievment at the Sports Emmy Awards in 2007.
The blue line is produced by first making a virtual 3-D model of the green in computer space. The model mimics the shape of the green including the slopes and contours. This is done by making thousands of laser scans at tenths of an inch intervals. The camera filming the event is placed and then very precisely measured relative to known, or fixed, marks around the green. The placement of the camera and the 3-D model are then married together through very sophisticated software that is able to produce the blue line you see on the broadcasts! It is accurate over 99% of the time!!
WHY YOU NEED AIMPOINT
A recent study conducted by Jon Karlsen at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, demonstrated that over 60% of putts missed by an elite group of amateurs and professionals alike could be attributed to faulty green reads (Karlsen & Nilsson, 2008). 34% of misses were attributable to physical conditions such as a poorly fit putter, poor aim and stroke mechanics. And finally, 6% of misses were the result of anomalies on the green surfaces such as spike marks, ball marks, etc.

AIMPOINT GREEN READING CLINICS
AimPoint Green Reading Instruction is a teaching model based upon the real science used to create that “blue line”. The clinics are conducted for individuals or small groups in a fun yet easy to learn on course format. There are two levels of training offered – Fundamentals and Advanced.
Fundamental Course Outline:
The AimPoint Fundamentals Course teaches you all the concepts necessary to understand and use the AimCharts. The course focusses on putts within 20 feet of the pin and on single plane reads, but also gives you some tools to read longer putts. It is the first step in helping ou become a master greee reader!
