S-Posture- This posture is caused by the golfer creating too much arch in the lower back and by sticking the tail bone out the setup position.

C-Posture- This posture occurs when thegolfer’s shoulders are slumped forward at address and there is roundness in the back from the tail bone to the back of the neck.

Do you know which eye is your dominant eye? If you don’t here is a simple way to help you determine it. Extend your arms from your body and face your palms away from you. Overlap your fingers and thumb of your right hand with the fingers and thumb of your left hand to form an equilateral triangle. Then, with your arms outstretched, scope a target approximately 20 feet away from you with both eyes open. Close your right eye. If the target is gone, you are right eye dominant. If the target disappears when you close your left eye, you are left eye dominant.

Once you have determined your eye dominance, you must now determine where to position the dominant eye in the stance. Here are the steps:

Have a ball marked with a straight line on it.

Position the ball so that the ball is lined up to the left edge of the cup

Take your putting stance with the dominant eye behind the ball and ask yourself where the line is aimed.

Repeat the procedure again only this time have the dominant eye over the ball.

Repeat the procedure again this time with the dominant eye in front of the ball.

Whatever position you take over the ball that finds the line correctly lined up is where your dominant eye should be placed during putting.

Parallax:

The definition of parallax is an apparent displacement or difference of orientation of an object viewed along two different lines of sight. In putting, parallax usually occurs after you have gone through your pre-shot routine and are addressing the ball. This is the moment when doubt occurs for most golfers. The line or target that you determined when standing behind the ball appears different from the line that appears as you stand over the ball. This is caused through parallax. The diagram below will illustrate the differences caused by parallax.

This is why a pre-shot routine is so important. You must eliminate all doubt so that when you do stand over the ball you are fully committed to the intended line or target for your putt.

Take a page out of one of the greatest golfers of all time, Tiger Woods. He prepares for his putt each time by reading the line from both sides of the ball. He follows this by walking a complete circle around the ball – viewing it from both the high side and the low side of the putt. At this point he is also engaging his kinesthetic awareness. Kinesthesia refers to the ability to determine where a particular body part is in space. Here, he is using his feet to “feel” the slope around the line of the intended putt. He uses this pre-shot routine to process all of the information, eliminate any and all doubts and completely commit himself to his putt. Remember the formula for successful putts?

Line + Speed + Committment = Successful Putt

Well here is an example of one of the greatest putters of our time using AimPoint concepts in action. AimPoint Green Reading Seminars are your best bet to dramatically improve your putting.
